You'll know your tempo is right if your character stays in place in the air. This way I can slide from X to Circle and get consistent jc combos. On PS controller, I have attack mapped to circle and jump to X as Nero. I like to have my aerial attack button mapped right next to my jump button. Depending on their fall speed, different enemies will fall to the ground quicker to others, even if you're frame perfect. Enemy step is more so just to improve his mobility during fights, not combo. V can JC as well but it's not as useful for him. Some moves cannot be jc'd easily (motorcycle) while other can. You can jc during any active part of the move that you're doing. Since enemy step allows you jump off an enemy that you're comboing in mid air, you can cancel the attack in mid air, but then instantly attack again after jumping.
Basically you cancel almost any move with a jump. What is jump canceling (JC) and how do I do it? First you need to buy enemy step from the abilities page in the customize screen. Most obvious is rainstorm which you can easily move around in and even gain a little height at the startup of it.ī. However, a moves still behave as if they are affected by inertia. The REengine or just the programming of the game does not allow inertia. Inertia was part of the game's physics where if you jump canceled a move with horizontal momentum, your next actions would carry that momentum from that move still. Biggest change between this game and DMC4 is no inertia.
